VISIT TO SEESHA HOME FOR THE AGED

Faculty members of School of Business, Leadership and Management had an enjoyable time of fellowship with the inmates of the home, on 22nd March, 2013.

Staff members visit was a jubilant time for the senior citizens.  They were most welcome in the inmates’ rooms, kept spick and span.  The inmates were looking very cheerful, neatly adorned and found to be active.  The elderly persons kept themselves busy with their talents and we were amzed to see their deft handiwork in crochet knitting and hand stitched items.

We moved into a common hall where the Manager Mr. Dorairaj, invoked the meeting with welcome address.

Prof.Micheal N. Kumar, spoke in Tamil and enthralled the audience and rendered the opening prayer.

Staff members introduced themselves and senior most inmates briefly traced the humble beginning and active involvement of Founder, Chancellor Dr. Paul Dhinakaran.  The inmates had a lot of freedom and were delighted about the spiritual care nurturing given by the Founders’ members of the family.  Dr. Mrs. Stell Dhinakaran and Chancellor visit the home regularly and evince keen interest in their welfare.

Mr.  Patrick Gomes, the only male inmate of the home entertained us through magic show and taught us with a few tips of the tricks.  We had a fellowship lunch and resumed our academic activities, thoroughly refreshed by the much valued spiritual rejuvenation.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp @ K S B L M

Karunya School of Business Leadership and Management conducted an awareness camp on “Entrepreneurship” on 15th and 16th of March 2013 under the leadership of Mrs. Swapna Kumari, Coordinator, Krayon E-Cell .

Mr Soundaran Natarajan , Founder Myklassroom.com inaugurated the camp . During his inaugural speech he highlighted the importance of being an entrepreneur in the Indo – US scenario.

He also stressed the need to take the challenges to become the successful entrepreneurs and plan towards that dream right from the student days.

Earlier Prof. T.Michael .N.Kumar Director ,Karunya School of Business Leadership and Management delivered the welcome address .

Resource persons from different sectors delivered lectures on success and failure stories of Entrepreneurship including the opportunities and evaluation of choices.

In the technical sessions, students were taught on methods of leveraging entrepreneurial ideas in Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).As part of the camp students were asked to prepare a Business Plan and Model, which was presented by the teams, debates, Video presentation, Poster presentation on ‘Save energy’ were held on the second day.

The Valedictory function was graced by the chief guest Mrs. Savitha Nair ,E-Cell Educator.               Prizes were distributed for the Winners in various competitions. The camp was sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), under NIMAT Scheme .

Indian student parliament is an annual event conducted by MIT School of Government, Pune in association with Union Ministry Youth affairs and Sports, Govt. of India and Ministry of Higher & Technical Education & Ministry of Sports & Youth Welfare, Govt. of Maharashtra State. The programme was supported by UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy, Peace and Tolerance.

This year the third edition of this event which garners students from across Indian sub-continent was held from 10th to the 12th of January, 2013. The event is the only one of its kind, where thousands of students congregate to discuss debate and find solutions for the various social, political and economic conditions that baffles the nation and the world as a whole. The 8 sessions that stretched over three days saw around 8,000 students participants from 28 States and many dignitaries including Mr. Omar Abdullah, Chief minister of Kashmir, Mr. Nithish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, MP, Rajya Sabha, Prof. Ramjee Singh, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, Mr. Rajat Sharma, Mr. Leander Paes and many others.
A group of first year students represented Karunya School of Business Leadership and Management consisting of Shalom Immanuel Lall, Rajasekar Rao, Sujith Kumar, Danny Johnson and Lily Lakera were the proud participants. 


Among whom, Lily Lakara won laurels for KSBLM by becoming a part of the final 16 student speakers at the event chosen from 8000 candidates based on their understanding about current topics. 
As the finalist, Lily was felicitated by the Founder & Convener of The Indian Student Parliament, Mr. Rahul V Karad himself with a shawl and a memento. She will also be a part of a study tour of 14 days to Europe in June and another tour to Delhi to get a firsthand experience in political scenario of the nation’s capital.

Daniel Jacob (2003-2005)

Daniel Jacob is working as Assistant General Manager HR in EC Group Datasoft Pvt Ltd. Which is a US based IT Services Company located in Chennai. Daniel is heading the HR operations as well as being a part of the strategic leadership team. Daniel has done his MBA in HR & Marketing from Karunya Business School in the year of 2005.

Recently Daniel  received the “40 Most Talented HR Leaders in India” Award  by The World HRD Congress in association with the leading business News Channel in India (ET NOW) based on his strategic perspective, future orientation, track record, integrity & ethics, ability for sustainability and competencies.

R Venkatachalapathy (2005-07)

 R. Venkatachalapathy is Sales Officer with Nestle India currently in the Trichy region managing the entire zone directly under the ASM. He received multi promotions within a period of just one year through his excellent analytical and innovative ideas in pushing products.

Recently Venky Won the “Best Sales Officer” award at Nestle for the Entire South India and also his team recently won the Competition to sell the Max volume of Polo (mint) in the most remote markets.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

Students who wish to apply for MBA Programme in Karunya University should have minimum of an undergraduate degree in any recognized University. Preference will be given to those who have experience and have scored more than 60% in their qualifying exam. It is mandatory that applicants should have appeared for a written test conducted by Karunya University (or) in any one of the national level entrance examinations (CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT).

Eligible candidates will be called for attending Group discussion and interview at Karunya University Campus, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India. Provisional admission will be given based on the total marks scored by the candidate out of 100 (UG Marks – 50, Online test/Common entrance test marks – 25, GD & Interview marks – 25). The admission will be confirmed after receiving the final marks statement / degree certificate as per the eligibility norms of the University.
